HOW DO YOU MAKE DIY DOLLAR TREE LOOSE BASKET
Grind the dollar baskets off with a fine sanding block. As a result, the plastic is only so far worn that the paint also has a good surface, without scratching the baskets.
Lightly cover the baskets with a few light layers of dark gray spray paint. It’s best to apply even coats while allowing the color between coats to dry completely.
to the baskets. auf die Körbe auf. After the spray paint has completely dried, apply tin rub ‘n buff to the baskets with a chip brush. and not cover up the dark gray paint completely. trockenen Pinsel auftragen und die dunkelgraue Farbe nicht vollständig verdecken. You want to apply a dry brush on the tin rub ‘n buff and do not completely cover the dark gray color. I thought it best to spray the tin paint on cardboard, dip the chip brush into the paint, and then dab off the access before the baskets are painted. If you are satisfied with painting the baskets, let them dry.
Now it’s time to put the locker tags. I could have used authentic locker tags, but I wanted this project to be affordable and feasible for everyone. The tags I used can be found on Amazon for less than $ 5.00 or Michaels for $ 3.00 with a coupon of 40%.
What I love about these little lockers / plaques is that they are equipped with brads that look like nails. I simply pushed the brads through the holes in the baskets and then opened them in the basket. You can also apply a swab of hot glue to the back of the brads to hold them.
The images are hard to spot, but the variation of dark gray spray paint and shiny pewter rub ‘n buff gives these DIY Dollar Tree locker baskets the perfect, authentic touch.
In the view below you can see a bit more of the color variation.
I like the plastic baskets, but the combination of color makes them look like metal. The inexpensive “loose tags” are also a great addition that makes these simple Dollar Tree storage baskets look like vintage locker baskets.
